Diverso Lab at the AI Opportunity Fund event in Seville

Events, Projects
A total of forty students enrolled in vocational training programmes and computing specialisation courses at IES Polígono Sur in Seville took part in an artificial intelligence event organised by Programamos, within the framework of a project funded by the AI Opportunity Fund: Europe, an initiative promoted by Google.org and the Centre for Public Impact. Diverso Lab contributed to the event with an experiment focused on prompt variability, developed in collaboration with José Miguel Horcas, a researcher at the University of Málaga (UMA). The experiment analyses how the way instructions are formulated for artificial intelligence systems influences the results obtained — a line of research with significant implications for the development of AI-based applications. The data collected during the activity will be used to continue improving a proprietary tool currently under development,…

DiversoLab participation in MODEVAR 2026

DiversoLab participation in MODEVAR 2026

Events, Projects, Uncategorized
Yesterday, April 29, 2026, our team from the University of Seville presented its work in the International Workshop on Languages for Modelling Variability (MODEVAR 2026). The event, hosted online by TU Braunschweig (Germany), brought together international experts to discuss and advance the field of software variability representation. Feature models have been recognized as one of the main contributions to the Software Product Line community since their invention in 1990. Despite several attempts to establish a standard modelling language (such as OVM, CVL, or TVL), reaching a consensus on a simple and universal feature modelling language remains a challenge. With the goal of facilitating information sharing among researchers, tools, and developers, this year's edition of MODEVAR focused on sharing knowledge about building variability representations and, most importantly, fostering open discussions on…

SensOlive to Present Breakthroughs in AI and Sensor Technology for Olive Grove Water Efficiency in Seville

SensOlive to Present Breakthroughs in AI and Sensor Technology for Olive Grove Water Efficiency in Seville

Announcement, Projects, Uncategorized
On April 15, 2026, the "La Hampa" Experimental Farm in Coria del Río (Sevilla) will host the SensOlive Results Day. This key event will showcase how cutting-edge technology is transforming water management in olive cultivation. Towards a More Sustainable and Competitive Olive Grove In the face of climate change and water scarcity, optimizing irrigation is more vital than ever. During the session, attendees will discover firsthand how the project integrates: Dendrometers and Advanced Sensors: For precise monitoring of tree status. Digital Twins and Artificial Intelligence: Creating predictive models for intelligent decision-making. Deficit Irrigation Strategies: Moving toward a more sustainable and competitive agriculture. Event Program The day is designed to be dynamic, combining field demonstrations with technical presentations: 10:30 AM: Registration. 11:00 AM: Visit to experimental plots to see the project's technology in…

New book release about Feature Models!

Doctors, Product lines, Projects
We've been given a pair of good news this last week regarding our lab cofounder Dr. David Benavides, who has been elected as Coordinador del programa de doctorado de ingeniería informática de la Universidad de Sevilla (Computer Engineering PhD Degree Coordinator), as well as given the greenlight from Springer for his first book publishing. And it gets even better than that: it's open access, what basically means it's free! Feature Models: AI-Driven Design, Analysis and Applications will surely clarify all concerns about variability systems and its modeling and restriction creation using Artificial Intelligence, as well as provide a basic introduction to analysis and notation. Congratulations Dr. Benavides for your new book and position!

New Article Published: UVLHub

Paper news, Product lines, Projects
UVLHub is an open source SPL online repository developed by our coworkers Pf. David Romero Organvídez, Dr José Ángel Galindo and Victor Ramirez de la Corte. Recently, the article in which the main status, features and impact of the project is summarized, has been published by Journal of Systems and Software. As of now, UVLHub serves as the main practical resource of an advanced mandatory subject in the Software Engineering degree in the University of Seville, provides features that have been crucial for the development of other projects led by diversolab, will be crucial for many others, and will be soon implementing more features to create and modify SPL's natively. AquaIA: Our new project under development

Product lines, Projects
In collaboration with FIWOO (Open Source IoT platform), FERAGUA (Andalusian irrigator communities association), Bioalverde (Solidary Eco Orchard), and Universidad de Loyola, we are currently managing and planning the integration of AquaIA, a deficit irrigation programming system for organic crops. We are also pleased to say that the US (Universidad de Sevilla) is in charge of the project's coordination. Both diversolab and the US agronomic group form a multidisciplinary (IT and Agronomics) group whose collaboration is key to our involvement in AquaIA. Among the cutting-edge technologies this project will be using, we find: Machine Learning Algorithms Internet of things Variability systems solutions (SPL) The potential reuse and multi-configuration of our projects is the key factor behind SPL (Software Product Lines), a technology that is always inside the lab's dna. Visiting Bioalverde…
