Galindo, researcher at Diverso Lab and the Department of Computer Languages and Systems of the University of Seville, has received a Most Influential Paper (MIP) award at VARIABILITY 2026, held in Limassol, Cyprus, from 29 September to 2 October. The award recognises "Using Machine Learning to Infer Constraints for Product Lines" (Paul Temple, José A. David Romero-Organvidez has presented "An Instrument for Measuring Variability Thinking" at VARIABILITY 2026, held in Limassol, Cyprus. The work is co-authored with Jesús Moreno-León, José A. Galindo and David Benavides, all from the I3US Institute at the University of Seville.Variability is a central concept in software product lines. Engineers must identify options, understand dependencies and analyze configurations. However, while the community has produced a wide range of techniques, tools and analyses, there was no instrument to measure the ability to reason about variation. Without it, it is difficult to compare profiles, assess skills or evaluate the impact of teaching.To address this gap, the authors propose the Test of Variability Thinking (TVT), a brief visual test of ten questions that takes around 15 minutes and requires no prior technical knowledge. Diverso Lab welcomes Maidelis Milanés Luque, lecturer at the Universidad de las Ciencias Informáticas (UCI) in Cuba, who has begun a research stay with the group as part of her doctoral studies.Her doctoral research focuses on the application of computational thinking in university teaching, an area that is increasingly relevant as institutions look for new ways to develop problem-solving, abstraction and algorithmic skills among students across disciplines.During her stay of approximately three months, Maidelis will work in collaboration with Dr. Jesús Moreno-León and Dr. David Benavides. The manuscript was accepted as a Research Paper in its current form. The work is co-authored with Miguel A. Olivero, Francisco J.
