Last Wednesday, May 28th, the AQUAIA Operational Group held the final event of its project and what a wonderful day it was! We had the opportunity to visit the experimental plots, watch the results of the project and dive into the key results of a project that’s been pushing the boundaries of sustainable agriculture. AQUAIA has developed an innovative tool for optimizing irrigation in organic horticultural systems, powered by highly customizable artificial intelligence models to enhance water-use efficiency. What is new in AquaIA?

Last week, the AquaIA team took part in a Project follow up meeting. The meeting was attended by all the differet groups that contribute to the Project, along with members of the Consejería de Agricultura, Ganadería, Pesca y Desarrollo Sostenible from Junta de Andalucía, and it consisted on a series of presentations in which each team showcased its contibutions and future steps ahead. The members of DiversoLab gave a Keynote on the current state of development, with a special focus on how innovative technologies are being applied to the Project. Other presentations took a deep dive on how controlled deficit irrigation techniques are being applied to lettuce crops, revealing that during the experimental phase, an astonishing amount of 50% water was saved compared to a traditional irrigation approach.
