El próximo miércoles 28 de mayo el grupo operativo AQUAIA celebra una jornada de finalización del proyecto en la que expondrán sus resultados. Visitaremos las parcelas experimentales del proyecto y mostraremos los resultados más importantes que hemos logrado. AQUAIA ha permitido desarrollar una herramienta para la optimización del riego en sistemas de cultivo hortícolas ecológicos, con modelos de inteligencia artificial altamente configurables para mejorar la eficiencia hídrica.  Las jornadas son exclusivamente presenciales y es necesario inscribirse para participar en ellas. Professor Debabrata Samanta, Program Head and Assistant Professor in the Department of Computing and Information Technologies at RIT Kosovo (A.U.K), was invited as a distinguished speaker at the Departamento de Lenguajes y Sistemas Informáticos, Universidad de Sevilla, Spain, on March 25, 2025. During his invited talk, titled “Revolutionizing Healthcare Through Real-Time Virtual Reality and Machine Learning Integration,” Professor Samanta explored how immersive technologies and intelligent systems are transforming the healthcare landscape. He demonstrated how real-time virtual reality environments—integrated with machine learning models—can be used for surgical training, patient rehabilitation, pain management, and remote diagnostics. On April 24th, 2025, coinciding with International Girls in ICT Day, Ulysseus hosted the virtual roundtable “Women in Tech: Leading the Digital Transformation”—a powerful and inspiring event focused on diversity, inclusion, and the role of women in shaping the future of technology. We are proud to share that Noelia López Durán, research assistant at DiversoLab and Master’s student at the University of Seville, took part as one of the invited panelists. We are thrilled to share that the main work from Salvador Muñoz-Hermoso’s industrial PhD thesis has been accepted for publication in the International Journal of Electronic Government Research (IJEGR). The article, soon to be published in the International Journal of Electronic Government Research, represents the main outcome of the research on Smart Governance carried out as part of an industrial PhD between Diverso Lab and the Provincial Informatics Company of Seville (INPRO). Their work provides both a theoretical and practical framework, along with resources to support the development of smart governance platforms for cities and municipalities. These data-intensive platforms, supported by disruptive technologies such as AI, will enable more open governments—fostering participation from citizens, professionals, and businesses in data- and knowledge-driven public decision-making. On Thursday 3rd of April, our colleague and team member Dr. Francisco José Domínguez Mayo was appointed as Full Professor in the Dept. of Lenguajes y Sistemas Informáticos at ETSII after the completion of the selection process. The process consisted of a presentation before a selection committee, during which Francisco reviewed his academic trajectory, research work, and knowledge transfer projects. In addition, he presented both his research project and teaching plan. Members of Diverso Lab were present to show their full support for Francisco, and we are thrilled to congratulate him on this well-deserved achievement.
