Diverso Lab paper on Open Source Performance Project reaches Top 10 Downloads

Paper news
This week, a paper authored by members of Diverso Lab secured a spot on the Top 10 Downloads page at the Social Science Research Network (https://www.ssrn.com) within the Software Engineering eJournal section. Titled "A Performance Evaluation Model for DevOps Practices on Open Source Software Projects," the paper was posted on October 17th and has reached the 9th position over the past 60 days. This paper proposes an alternative method to measure project performance levels through reports from different methods and puts it in comparison with DORA metrics reports, which cannot be directly applied to OSS projects. This paper is available at SSRN: https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=4605131

Diverso Lab members take part in JIETSII 2023

Uncategorized
ETSII 2023 was the first edition of an event held by ETSII Seville in which students from different university degrees shared their works and investigations in order to promote collaboration between them. Diverso Lab members Antonio Germán Márquez, David Romero and José Manuel Sánchez took part in the event presenting their works and sharing them. Their respective presentations were titled "Vulnerability impact analysis in software project dependencies based on SMT approach", "Transformo: a tool for data transformation using SPL techniques" and "Performance Benchmarking of Open Source Software Projects Using a Collaborative Tool". The presenters successfully exposed their investigations in a summarized and concise way. The first edition of the event was well received by the attendees and it is expected to be held again in the future, promoting further collaborations.

Diverso Lab member successfully defended his master’s thesis

Master's thesis
This thursday took place at ETSII Seville the defense of the Master's thesis of one of the Diverso Lab students, José Antonio Zamudio. He successfully defended his master's thesis entitled "Chatbot Generation Using Software Product Line Techniques: A Systematic Approach for Reusing Domain Artifacts", which is the first systematic approach for the intelligent reuse of domain artifacts in the context of chatbot generation that exists in the literature. This new line of research proposes synergies between the field of product lines, modeling and artificial intelligence and shows a first approach by using a tool for the construction of intelligent chatbots by reusing information and applying techniques from product line engineering. In this way the student concludes his master studies and prepares to start his doctoral thesis.

Diverso Lab publishes a paper at AAAI main track: the top conference on AI worldwide

Uncategorized
Recently, some members of the Diverso Lab attended the highly esteemed AAAI'23 conference in Washington DC, which focuses on artificial intelligence. Their visit served two purposes. Firstly, they presented their contribution, "FASTDIAGP: An Algorithm for Parallelized Direct Diagnosis," which resulted from a collaboration with TU Graz and former PhD students from Chile. Secondly, they aimed to gain knowledge and comprehension of the current state of the art in artificial intelligence, particularly in the areas of LLM (Large Language Models) and constraint problem solving. The conference was divided into three main blocks. The first block was the workshops program, which comprised a series of talks and workshops focused on specific techniques in AI. One workshop attended was on program synthesis, which featured various talks on how to automatically synthesize programs, mainly…

Talk on natural language processing in today’s world

Uncategorized
natural language processing field connecting the advances with software engineering topics.   The talk addressed the role of scaling a deep learning model to achieve unprecedented results across the whole set of natural language processing evaluations. This exposition of the scaling principles began with the critical property of model parallelism and the attention mechanism, first introduced in 2017 by the famous article "Attention is all you need." Then Antonio exposed the scaling laws, which dictate the role of the model number of parameters, training data, amount of tokens, and compute time are the fundamental building blocks for optimal training. The talk showed the most influential model in the code generation scenario by the hand of DeepMind's Alpha Code. Antonio's latest research addresses mono and cross-lingual code using transformer-based language models.…
