On 30 September 2026, Programamos, the non-profit organisation co-founded and co-directed by Jesús Moreno-León, professor at the School of Computer Engineering (ETSII) of the University of Seville and researcher at DiversoLab, held a solidarity hackathon focused on artificial intelligence for the common good with a team of more than 100 professionals from Ilunion. 88% of the participants have some form of disability.
The participants had previously completed an online phase covering the fundamentals of generative AI, delivered with Google experts. During the hackathon, they worked in diverse, multidisciplinary teams to design innovative AI-based proposals aimed at improving a specific aspect of their daily work and contributing to the wellbeing of their community.
A jury of four members of the Programamos team assessed both the final results and the teamwork shown throughout the day. Three prizes of 3,000 euros each were awarded, recognising the most innovative project, the project with the greatest community impact, and the best teamwork. In a remarkable gesture of solidarity, the winning teams decided not to keep the prize money: the full 9,000 euros will be donated to three non-profit organisations selected by the winners.

The initiative is part of the AI Opportunity Fund: Europe by Google.org. Programamos was selected by the Centre for Public Impact to take part in this programme, which aims to equip people from vulnerable communities with AI skills and tools. The call received more than 400 applications from 29 countries, of which only 80 organisations from 24 countries were funded.
This event reflects the commitment of DiversoLab members to bringing technology closer to society and ensuring that the opportunities of artificial intelligence reach everyone.
