Six Diverso Lab Contributions Accepted at VARIABILITY 2026

Diverso Lab is proud to share that six of our contributions have been accepted for VARIABILITY 2026, the International Conference on Software and Systems Reuse, Product Lines, and Configuration. This first edition of the conference brings together three long-standing venues in the field, SPLC, VaMoS and ICSR, and will take place in Limassol, Cyprus, from 29 September to 2 October 2026.

Our accepted work spans the main track, the journal-first track and the MODEVAR workshop, and reflects the breadth of our research on variability modelling, automated analysis and the Universal Variability Language (UVL).

Main Track

Automated Analysis of UVL using Satisfiability Modulo Theories, by José Miguel Horcas, Francisco S. Benítez, José A. Galindo and David Benavides. This paper presents our advances in using the Z3 solver for the automated analysis of feature models, extending the capabilities of flamapy and the flamapy IDE.

Reasoning about variability models through network analysis, by José Manuel Sánchez Ruiz, Miguel Ángel Olivero González, Rubén Heradio, Luis Cambelo and David Fernández-Amorós. This work presents our advances in using graphs of transitive dependencies and conflicts of feature models, allowing us to consider structural traits and domain-specific deviations in the automated reasoning and analysis of models.

An Instrument for Measuring Variability Thinking, by David Romero Organvídez, Jesús Moreno León, José A. Galindo and David Benavides. This paper introduces the Test of Variability Thinking (TVT), an exploratory visual instrument built upon the classical SPL framework and instantiated in a technology-neutral physical domain (Playmobil).

Journal First

UVL: Feature Modelling with the Universal Variability Language (Summary), by David Benavides, Chico Sundermann, Kevin Feichtinger, José A. Galindo, Rick Rabiser and Thomas Thüm. This contribution presents UVL, the Universal Variability Language that is changing how software product lines are developed.

MODEVAR Workshop

Towards UVL-based variability modelling of drone propellers, by Esther Rocío Valladolid Ortiz, David Romero Organvídez, José Antonio Pérez Castellanos and David Benavides. This paper presents a UVL feature model that captures, validates and generates the variability of fixed-pitch drone propellers.

UVL-Supported Configuration for YOLOv11 Face Detection, by Haya Alhadramy, Francisco S. Benítez and José A. Galindo. This paper addresses the configuration of the hyperparameters of a YOLOv11 model for face detection, using UVL and flamapy to derive configurations and compare them.
